  • This study was aimed at determining the correlation between reading comprehension and speaking performance of the students of English education program in Islamic Sultan AgungUniversity Semarang in the academic year 2015/2016. This study illustrated how students’ reading comprehension with speaking performance, whether the reading has any influence on their speaking performance or not.The sample in this study was the fourth semester students of Islamic Sultan AgungUniversity Semarang in the academic year of 2015/2016. The data in this research was collected using tests, while the writer analyzed the data by using SPSS. The results showed that the correlation between reading and speaking for the fourth semester students of English education program of Islamic Sultan Agung University Semarang in the academic year of 2015/2016 was positive. From the results of the tests that have been done, there was a difference in the average of scores between reading and speaking; while the average score of reading was 68.61 and average score for speaking was 68.93. The determination coefficient 0.200 meant that around 20% of the students’ speaking ability was contributed by reading, while 80% of the students’ speaking ability was contributed by other factors. From these results, the researcher concluded that students who were good in reading then their speaking would also be good, and vice versa, if the students have poor reading then their speaking will also be poor.
