  • This paper studies on a woman’s struggle during the Civil War and reconstruction. The purpose of this research is to highlight on the woman struggle during the Civil War and reconstruction in the film and to find out how feminist values reveal behind the struggle. The object of this study is Gone With The Wind film directed by Victor Flaming. The writer uses descriptively qualitative analysis. The primary data refer to any citation of phrase, sentence that found in the film script. The analysis is done by several techniques including exposing, explaining and interpreting. The result of this research indicated that Gone With The Wind film reflect a woman struggle including the struggle in personal, public, and domestic sphere during the hardship of Civil War and reconstruction. However, the film also contains some feminist values behind the struggle of Scarlett O’Hara. Those are gender equality, respect, and freedom to choose. On the basis of the conclusion, several suggestions can be offered. First, as a woman who has less opportunity in society in her movement, woman can achieve her dream as long as she has a strong will to fight and struggle for it. Second, family and homeland are central of people life in getting the strength to face the difficulties. Third, women as a human also has the same right as men have in society both in private and public sphere. Keywords: A woman struggle, feminist values
