  • This research was about analyzing the content validity of first grade English summative test of senior high school at SMA Islam Raudhotut Tholibin Demak. The aim of this study was to describe whether each test item of the summative test for the first grade students of SMA Islam Raudhotut Tholibin has represented the syllabus as an indicator of the content validity. A descriptive research design was used in this study. The subject of this research was English teacher who made the English summative test in SMA Islam Raudotut Tholibin Demak and the object was English mid - test items for the first grade in SMA Islam Raudotut Tholibin Demak. The data was collected by using documentation and checklist. Then, it was analyzed by using Gay and Airasian four steps qualitative analysis which are reading, describing, classifying, and interpreting the data. From the result of the research, it can be concluded that English summative test for the first grade of senior high school at SMA Islam Raudhotut Tholibin Demak had less content validity. The result which based on two judges showed that the mid - test only covered 8 indicators from total indicators in reading and writing section of the English syllabus 2006 curriculum which means there was only 40 ¬¬– 50% appropriateness with the syllabus indicator.
