  • This research discusses patriotism seen in Marcus Junius Brutus in Julius Caesar drama by William Shakespeare. The objective of this research is to reveal Patriotism in Marcus Junius Brutus character in Julius Caesar Drama by William Shakespeare and the impact of Patriotism in the social life. Julius Caesar drama is a literary work by William Shakespeare that published in 1623. Julius Caesar drama is a tragedy by William Shakespeare that describes a conspiracy against Julius Caesar and his murder. To do the analysis, the researcher uses qualitative method. In addition, sociology of literature approach and three major perspective theories by Emile Durkheim, Max Weber, and George Herbert Mead are applied. The result of this study shows some problem in the society that triggers some people to do patriotic action as done by the character. Therefore, the discussion will be described along with the character reaction of bad social condition and the dictatorship of Julius Caesar. The writer hopes that by conducting this research will assist the readers to get more understanding and to get into touch with the theories and analysis offered related to patriotism in the major character within a historical drama.
