- By this time a lot of palm oil exported, meanwhile the increasement of production of palm oil can be provide excellent impact of accompany bye the increasement of the economic valve on producing high economic value product. One of it is developing surfactant MES. The adventages of surfactant MES are the raw meterials is easy to provide,surfactant can be made from palm oil that can be biodegradable so that it do not pollute the environment and natural renewable resources. The purpose of this research are to determine the optimum conditions during producing surfactant MES. While the parameters are observed concentration CaO with a variation of 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2% and 2.5%. based on the analysis of capillary tube that optimum condition of manufacture surfactant MES is the condition of manufacture surfactant MES is the condition of CaO catalyst with 1.5% concentration is equal to 27.90 dyne/cm. the decrease in the surface tension at 50.61% Keyword : surfactant, MES, CaO,catalyst
