  • The Quality of Synthetic Asphalt from Tires Waste, Plastics Waste (HDPE&PET) by Using Waste Cooking Oil as Solvent (M. Rajab Al-mukarrom, 60 Pages, 14 Tables, 31 Pictures, 4 Appendixes) Asphalt is the important component in the making of infrastructure and rehabilitation of road in particular on the surface layer. The use of asphalt as a road surface coating materials is increasingly rising in number, so its affect the availability of asphalt was limited. The problem is not in line with the limited supply of petroleum as a primary material for producing natural asphalt. To overcome that problem, it needs an alternative in the form of synthetic asphalt by using any waste materials. The materials for making synthetic asphalt is made with various compositions such as tires waste, plastic waste (HDPE & PET), by using waste cooking oil as solvent. The purpose of this research is to establish the exact composition of synthetic asphalt in order be able to produce synthetic asphalt with the characteristics fulfill asphalt Pen 80/100. The methodology of this research is by varying the composition of materials in each synthetic asphalt sample. The parameters of synthetic asphalt testing are penetration, ductility, softening point, flash point, and density based on SNI. The result of this research and the analysis of synthetic asphalt in laboratory concerning those parameters obtained the characteristics of synthetic asphalt with the standard of Pen 80/100. Sample C with the compositions of 30 grams tires waste, 66 ml waste cooking oil, and 7,5 grams HDPE plastic waste and 7,5 grams PET plastic waste obtained the value of the penetrations of 101,5 mm, flash point is 208oC, and density of 1,028 gr/ml, those parameters fulfill the standard. The ductility value of the synthetic asphalt is 3,00 cm, and softening point at 97oC. Key Words : Synthetic Asphalt, Tires Waste, Plastics Waste, Waste Cooking Oil
