- COMPARATIVE STUDY KINETICS REACTION OF HYDROLYSIS TAPIOCA STARCH AND MAIZENA STARCH WITH SULPHURIC ACID CATALYST (Muhammad Nur Arifin, 2014, Page 41, Table 17, Figure 26, Appendix 3) Tapioca Starch and Maizena Starch contains a lot of carbohydrates. Carbohydrat in its are 86.9% in Tapioca Starch and 85% in Maizena Starch. Carbohydrat which is contained in its can be processed into glucose by hydrolysis process. As much as 50 grams of starch are Hidrolized in a three-neck flask equipped with a stirrer and cooling upright to determine the reaction rate constants. The used variables are sulfuric acid catalyst concentration of 0.5 N and 1 N and 80 ° C hydrolysis temperature. The results were analyzed using hydrolysis Luff Schoorl method to determine glucose levels. Based on the results revealed that the greater the concentration of catalyst which is used, the greater the percent conversion. In the hydrolysis of starch at a concentration of 0.5 N H2SO4 and 1N obtained k = 0.000552313 min-1 and k = 0.000611592 min-1. The hydrolysis of cornstarch at a concentration of 0.5 N H2SO4 and 1N obtained k = 0,000168565 min-1 and k = 0,000544806 min-1. Keywords: Tapioca, Maizena, Hydrolysis, Glucose
