  • BIOMASS PYROLYSIS PROTOTYPE OF OIL PALM SHELLS (STUDY FOR THE INFLUENCE OF FUEL FLOW RATE OF DESTRUCTION EXERGY IN CONDENSER) (Muhammad Noble Hidayatullah, 58 Pages, 24 Tables, 28 Figures, 4 Appendix) One of many natural resources that the use can be pushed into alternative energy include the alternative energy derived from biomass. The easiest way to change the oil palm shell waste biomass into energy is by burning it directly. But the heating value contained relatively low so as to increase the calorific value of the pyrolysis process can be carried out. From the pyrolysis process can be produced liquid smoke or bio-oil and charcoal carbon that can be used and have economic value. Previously to produce liquid smoke made without the use of condenser circulating system, so that condensation of liquid smoke obtained less than the maximum, characterized by the presence of smoke that has not condensed. That’s why the author tries to develop engineering prototypes pyrolysis of biomass with circularized cooling water in the condenser so that the liquid smoke condensed well. The results of the calculation of the effect of the fuel flow rate is directly proportional to the exergy destruction, the greater the fuel flow rate, the greater the exergy destruction. The process of condensation on the condenser with a fuel flow rate of 5 liters/min, the destruction of exergy -7.709 kJ/min, the fuel flow rate of 6 liters/min destruction of exergy -12.782 kJ/min and at a flow rate of materials fuel 7 liters/min destruction of exergy -21.523 kJ/min. Keywords: Prototype, Pyrolysis, Oil Palm Shells, Condenser, Exergy Destruction.
