SEBAGAI SUMBER ENERGI ALTERNATIF</title><creator>Diah Pebriani, Trie</creator><subject>TP Chemical technology</subject><description>The lignite coal and biomass waste corn cobs and rubber seed shell have great
potency and benefits to serve as an alternative energy source to fossil fuels,
especially oil and gas. The purpose of this research is to improve the quality of the
coal briquettes by adding corn cobs and rubber seed shell so that the resulted
briquettes biocoal qualified for the source of alternative energy. This research was
carried out by testing the raw material proximate analysis, the carbonization and
briquetting biocoal and the analysis covering the water content, ash content,
volatile matter content, fixed carbon, total sulfur and calorific value. The method
used in the reseach was by varying the carbonization time, namely 30 minutes and
60 minutes, and varying the composition of the briquettes biocoal namely
80:10:10, 60:20:20, and 50:25:25. The results showed that the biocoal briquettes
carbonization time of 60 minutes with the composition biocoal 80:10:10
briquettes produce the best quality in accordance with ISO 1-6253-200, with
2.64% water content, 5.35% ash content, 24.56% volatile matter, 67.45% fixed
carbon, 0.06% total sulfur and 6361 kcal / kg calorific value.
