(Seftiani Nopitasari, 2014, 50 sheets, 13 tables, 20 images, 3 attachments)
The development industry songket cloth which is the traditional province of South
Sumatra, increasing the songket production and waste generated. One of the
manufacturing process is dyeing yarn. The immersion liquid waste that is
predominantly red color. In the treatment of colored wastewater is used
electrocoagulation method. Electrocoagulation is a coagulation method using direct
current through an electrochemical process. The method is performed in batch
electrocoagulation where liquid waste is placed in a beaker that contained aluminum
electrodes with dimensions of 16.5 cm x 7.0 cm x 0.2 cm. The parameters are varied
current density 25 A/m2 , 45 A/m2, 65 A/m2, 85 A/m2, the processing time 40 minutes,
80 minutes, 120 minutes, and 160 minutes, to determine the value of pH, BOD5, COD
, TSS, color intensity and phenol. The optimum conditions obtained from this
research at 25 A/m2 current density at the time of 160 minutes. At this optimum
condition can reduce the color intensity of 1120 to 24. Effectiveness of wastewater
electrocoagulation songket was 67.28% for TSS, BOD5 54.13%, 63.64% COD, color
intensity 79.21%, and 74.93% phenol. The results has fulfilled quality standards in
accordance with Regulation of South Sumatra Governor No. 08 in 2012 about the
quality standards of textile industry wastewater.
