- The method used in this research is descriptive research method, qualitative. The research resources were obtained through interview method to government, caretaker and community around the river edge of ampera bridge musi. Methods of collection using observation, interview and documentation. The data obtained in this study were analyzed by triangulation. The objectives of the research are(1) To know the role of tourism office in developing culinary tourism in the river bank musi (2) and to know the impact of tourism service role in the development of culinary tourism object of musi river for the people of palembang city.The results of this study indicate that the tourism office has a very important role in the development of culinary tourism potentials of river banks. The role is as a facilitator, motivator, mediator and komunitator. In addition, there are positive impacts for the city community, such as the creation of jobs that support their economy in addition to positive impacts, as well as negative impacts that can occur, such as the economic struggle between capital owners who come to tourist sites with local communities.
