- This report aims to determine the efficiency of the allocation and cost of local rice transfers by taking case studies on Bulog Division of Sumsel and Babel Bulog using linear programming ie Vogels Approximation Method (VAM) and Stepping Stone transportation methods. Perum Bulog Divre Sumsel and Babel are addressed at Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan No. 1, Duku, Ilir Timur II, Palembang. Authors data collection using interview and documentation methods. Using analytical technique using quantitative method that is transportation method of Vogels Approximation Method (VAM) and Stepping Stone, the authors get information that the allocation applied to the company in local rice transfer is less efficient because the company does not use special method but only by estimating the nearest distance from original warehouse To the warehouse for the purpose of moving the rice. The company also specializes in one shipment only one allocation is used by choosing a warehouse with the largest amount of inventory or quite a lot. The method is less precise because the shortest distance is not necessarily the lowest cost and if there is only one allocation in the most inventory, there is likely to be the smallest cost missed from other allocations. The results of the discussion will provide the allocation and cost comparison before the company uses the transportation method and after using the transportation method.
