  • Cassava rubber (Manihot glazovii) is a plant which has low economic value and less unused cause there is HCN toxic on it. Cassava rubber contain a quite high starch, therefore can be used as a major raw material on making biodegradable plastic. Making plastic biodegradable done with adding concentration of chitosan 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50% from weight of cassava rubber starch, that is 5 grams. Another materials that used on making plastic biodegradable such as plasticizer, acetat acid, and aquadest. Making biodegradable plastic is done in three steps including, making cassava rubber starch, making biodegradable plastic with adding chitosan, and test characteristic mechanic of biodegradable plastic such as measurement of tensile strength, elongation, and biodegradation. The result is a thin film biodegradable plastic which has tested the characteristic mechanic. On tensile strength measurement reached about concentration optimum of chitosan on 40% with 0,0037 Mpa and measurement of elongation reached concentration optimum of chitosan on 0% with 1,9047%. Biodegradable plastic that has tested biodegradation during 60 days has loosely perfect in the ground, well water, and waste water, however not yet loosely perfect on the top surface of ground, rain water, aquadest, and PDAM water.
