PREPARASI DAN KARAKTERISASI MEMBRAN KERAMIK BERBASIS TANAH LIAT, ZEOLIT, NATRIUM METASILIKAT (Na2SiO3), DAN ASAM BORIK (H3BO3) TERHADAP PENGOLAHAN POME
Daftar Isi:
- Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) which emerged by industry is wasted that contains the organic compound that can soil the environment and will cause bad smell and taste. One of way that can used to decrease the wasted of this POME is doing the filtration process by using ceramic membrane microfiltration technic. This research purpose is make five membranes with basic materials such as clay, zeolite, sodium metasilicate, and boric acid with variation of composition which different to the five membranes. The method of making this ceramic membrane is by printing and burning step in temperature 900oC. Before POME is filtrated by using ceramic membrane, firstly, doing the pretreament to POME by flowing POME passed the active carbon. The research result showed that the best membrane is a membrane with composition 80% clay, 13,5% zeolite, 3,5% sodium metasilicate, and 3,25% boric acid. Based on analisys of Scanning Electro Microscop (SEM) this best membrane has pore size 5,30 μm, in operation condition in pressure 1,7 bar and temperature 30oC in time interval 10 minute during 30 minute. The ability of membrane performance is rejection and flux that produced by this microfiltration membrane is influenced by variation of material composition with final result of quality rejection BOD 18,27%, rejection COD 68,28% and rejecion TSS 79,74% while flux score 0,5095 (L/m2min).
