Daftar Isi:
- Plastic waste including one of the problem of environment that most concern in Indonesia, even thought to have reached thousands of tons. Plastic will be breaks down in time 450 until 600 years. Therefor, needed plastic environmentally friendly to reduce pollution, for example biodegradable plastic.Biodegradable plastic are a type of plastic made from renewable biomass sources, such as vegetable oil, starch, and microbiota. Taro tuber starch can be used as raw material for the making of biodegradable plastics because taro tuber starch containing 74,34% carbohydrates. In this research , the making of biodegradable plastics using the casting method with variation of chitosan ( 0gr ; 0,5gr ; 1 g ) and glycerol volume variation ( 2ml , 3ml , 4ml )through 3 stages of that is making taro starch, making plastics and analysis of biodegradable plastic (tensile strenght, water resistance, a melting point and biodegradability test). The effect of adding glycerol volume will increase degradation time of plastic but reduce the value of tensile strength , water resistance % and a melting point. Effect of chitosan will increase the value of tensile strength and % water resistance , but it can decreasing degradation time of plastic. The best composition of biodegradable plastics in the research of plastic with 2ml of glycerol and 1gr chitosan that produce value 0,00226Mpa tensile strength ; % Water resistance of 64.79 % ; melting point 272.6 ; and biodegradation time for 5 days.
