- Pineapple crown is the waste that is not use maximally. The utilitation of pineapple crown as active carbon is one of solution to increase it valve. Pineapple crown has 69,5-71,5% cellulose (Nurabdillah Sidik, 2011). The purpose of this research is to know the optimum temperature and concentration of activator KOH and also to get active carbon as well as standard of carbon SII-0258-88. There were 3 process of making active carbon such as dehidration, carbonitation, and activation. Dehidration process will lose some water of pineapple crown with temperature 100oC for an hour. Carbonitation proses with variation of temperature 400oC, 450oC, 500oC, 550oC, and 600oC. Activation process with variation of concentration KOH 0,1M, 0,2M, 0,3M, 0,4M dan 0,5M with various adsorben weigh and volume of activator 1:5 for 24 hours. The analysis of this research were rendemen percent, level of water, level of ash, and iodine adsorption capacity. The caracteristic of good quality of carbon active carbon that same with SII-0258-88 was temperature process 600oC with the concentration of activator KOH 0,5M, the result is active carbon with level of water 0,047%, level of ash 4,0%, and iodine adsorption capacity 795,302 mg/gr.
