- Taro tubers starch (Colocasia Esculenta) is a plant that has a low economic value and also underutilized due because Ocsalat Calcium contained in taro tuber can give the itchiness consumption. Taro tuber (Colocasia Esculenta) have a high carbohydrate. Therefore taro tuber can be used as a main ingredient manufacture of Bioplastics. Raw material is a tuber starch taro (Colocasia Esculenta). This study was conducted to determine the effect of variations in composition Plasticizer Sorbitol and Chitosan, so as to obtain the optimum Bioplastik. This study also use other materials such as chitosan, acetat acid and aquadest. The total addition of composition Plasticizer sorbitol and chitosan is 40% of the weight of starch is 5 gram with 5% interval. The result obtained in the form of a thin sheet of bioplastics which has been in testing it’s mechanical properties. Obtanied optimum conditions to produce Bioplastik is the concentration 15% sorbitol and 25% chitosan which has 3,3% of elongation and a tensile strength of 0,0050 Mpa.
