  • Taro tubers starch (Colocasia Esculenta) is a plant that has a low economic value and also underutilized due to toxic ocsalat acid contained in the taro tuber. Taro tuber (Colocasia Esculenta) have a high carbohydrate. Therrefore taro tuber can be used as a main ingredient manufacture of plastics biodegradable. Raw material for making plastics biodegradable is a tuber starch taro (Colocasia Esculenta). This study was conducted to determine the effect of variations in composition plasticizer, so as to obtain the optimum plastic. Plasticizer used in this study of sorbitol and gliserol. This study also use other materials such as chitosan, asetat acid and aquadest. The addition of composition plasticizer conducted from comparison sorbitol 0%-gliserol 40% of the weight of starch is 5 gram. The result obtained in the form of a thin sheet plastic bidegradable wich has been in testing it’s mechanical properties. Obtained optimum cinditions to produce plastics biodegradable is the concentration 10% sorbitol-30% gliserol which has % elongsitas 2,5% and a tensile strength of 0,0050 Mpa.
