  • Drying is a process of water removal content in the majority of agricultural or fisheries with the objective to maintain and improve product quality so that higher value. At this drying process requires a source of heat to evaporate the water on a product by utilizing the heat from the sun with a long time. The purpose of this research is to make a tray dryer type (Tray Dryer) with hot air media that is expected to accelerate the drying time on a product and determine the resulting heatloss drying at the optimum drying time. This dryer is composed of four main parts, namely furnace, boiler, heat exchanger, and a drying chamber that has 3 Tray. This mechanism consists of an evaluation instrument design, preparation of equipment and materials, construction tools, test performance and maintenance. Based on the results of testing variation optimal time for the drying process to heatloss cracker with a capacity of 5,4 Kg and a temperature of 700C is within 7 hours with a water content of 18.12 % and amounted to 12.70 % heatloss. long drying time indicates that the longer the drying process, the greater the heatloss obtained.
