- Packaging materials made from plastic widely used in a variety of uses and syntethic material can cause bad impact for our environment or environmental pollution. The development of biodegradable plastic can provide better product quality and provide better effect for our environment or environmentally friendly. This research do biodegradable plastic production which made from durian seeds powder with cornstarch for extra material and plasticizer sorbitol. This research is purpose to know cornstarch and plasticizer sorbitol mass effect for biodegradable plastic quality from durian seeds powder. Quantity of cornstarch have used are 1 gr, 2 gr, 3 gr, 4 gr, and 5 gr. Then plasticizer sorbitol have used are 1 ml, 2 ml, 3 ml, 4 ml, 5 ml. Mix materials that used for this biodegredable plastic production formed into gel and molded. Then dried with room temperature. The results of this research is cornstarch and plasticizer increase produce pull strong values 0,0001815-0,0004720 Mpa, elongation percent 1,11-3,33%, water resistance (%Sweeling) 55,18-34,99% and the biodegradation perfect occurred for 8 days. The results show that cornstarch and plasticizer sorbitol affect the characteristic of biodegradable plastic from durian seeds powder.
