- Casting is a manufacturing process of a metal workpiece by way of a metal melt at a certain temperature, then poured into molds and allowed to cool and freeze. The main objective in this brass mold making is to speed up the production process, with a relatively short time and produce a product that many (mass). In this report discussed making molds Polytechnic Sriwijaya logo for souvenirs, this permanent mold casting technologies intended to improve the nonferrous metals which has been traditionally done in the community by using sand casting technology (sandcasting). Metal mold design is based on the theory and practice where theory is obtained from a variety of books and practices derived from foundry accompanied by interviews. But for products with relatively simple geometry and mass-produced, sandcasting technology is less efficient. For the developed method using a permanent mold casting made of steel metal. The results of this report show that the quality of the results are not much different, the mold will be capable of producing plaque / souvenir with a shorter time and of course lower production costs.
