- Induction motor torque and efficiency is influenced by the amount of motor power, motor power is low due to the low value of power factor. If the low power factor of an induction motor it will be very detrimental especially to the industry due to varying motor load. The problem of low power factor can be overcome with the installation of capacitor either with capacitor Y or Δ connection. Results of research on the three-phase induction motor (wound rotor) connection Y load of 2,5 Nm showed that the installation of the capacitor can change the value of the power factor although not significantly. Where before the installation capacitor value of power factor is 0,568 (Lagging), a torque of 2,172 Nm and the value of efficiency is 90.59%. While at the time of installation 10μF capacitor Y connection worth of power factor 0.891 and value of torque is 2.25 Nm and the amount of efficiency is 93.01%. As well as when installing capacitors 4μF Δ connection worth of power factor is 0.947 and a torque is 2.29 Nm and the amount of efficiency is 93.7%.
