- This report discusses about code switching. The main purposes of the study are to know the types and the reason of code switching used by The Host of “Gaul Bareng Bule on Trans TV” when the hosts talked to the foreigners and the audiences. The problems are what types and reason of code switching are used by The Hosts of “Gaul Bareng Bule on Trans TV”. The research methodology of this final report is qualitative method. The result of this final report is that there are 22 occurrences of code switching used by the host in the video “Gaul Bareng Bule on Trans TV”. From the analysis, the writer got two types of code switching: situational code switching and metaphorical code switching and four reasons of code switching expression of solidarity, changing of the topic, for affective functions, and to emphasize meaning that. The dominant type is metaphorical code switching and the dominant reason is expression of solidarity. Keyword: Code switching, the hosts, Trans TV. vii
