- The purposes of this report are to find the kinds and the functions of kinesics used by the winners of the Toastmasters International Speech Contest. The writer used descriptive method and the subject of the research was the winners of The Toastmasters International Speech Contest. The writer collected by doing observation from the videos that was uploaded from www.youtube.com. Then, the writer analyzed, classified and made the percentage of kinesics used in the videos. Based on the findings, the writer found 3 kinds of kinesics in the sample videos. They are emblem, illustrator and affect display. The functions of kinesics used in the samples were; 1. Emblem had functions, 2. Illustrator had 4 functions, and 3. Affect display had 9 functions.
