- Background: The traffic problems are often ignored by all parties. While the traffic problem, if not managed properly then fatal loss of life and property in large quantities. The purpose of this study was to analyze the incidence of traffic accidents in the city of Palembang in 2008-2009. Method: The research is a descriptive study with cross sectional approach. Samples in this study amounted to 699 accident victims. The type of data collected is secondary data taken from the book monthly reports of traffic of the city Poltabes Palembang. Result: The results of research of traffic accidents in 2008 showed more victims in the age group 15-49 years (77,1%), male (76,4%), the use of the private sector (52,8%), motorcycle type (80,3%), the type of blow and forward (46,8%), suffered serious injuries (46,5%) and in 2009 more victims in 15 years - 49 years age group (81%), male (75,2%), the use of private (50,8%), motorcycle type (69,2%), the type of success to the side (36,6%), suffered serious injuries (35,2%). Conclusion: The research suggestions are more alert in the activities of the traffic safety on the road, especially in areas prone to accidents and pay special attention to the motorcycle's view on the contribution of the motorcycle against accidents in the city of Palembang.
