FACTORS RELATED TO LUNG VITAL CAPACITY OF 24.301.118 GAS STATION OPERATORS IN PALEMBANG 2010

  • Background : Air pollution is caused by high traffic density. Air pollution is caused by motor vehicle exhaust and human factors can affect lung problems. Therefore it needs to do research on the factors related to lung vital capacity. Method : This research uses cross sectional design. This research samples were 19 24,301,118 gas station operators. The questionnaire was used to know the variable of age, sex, period of working, nutrition, smoking habitual, exercise habitual, employment history, and the background of lung ache. Spirometer was used to measure lung vital capacity. Result : The results which was analyzed using Fisher Exact test show that there was a correlation between age (p value = 0.036), sex (p value = 0.017) and period of working (p value = 0.045) to lung vital capacity. Conclusion: older age, male and working lives of more than 3 years is a risk factor for lung vital capacity. Keywords : Lung Vital Capacity, Operator, pollution, air
