- ABSTRAK Padang penggembalaan perlu dikelola dan didata kondisinya karena sebagai sumber pakan utama bagi ternak gembala di Pulau Sumba. Rumput alam di padang penggembalaan dan lahan pertanian Kecamatan Haharu Kabupaten Sumba Timur memiliki jenis yang beragam dan merupakan pakan utama yang dikonsumsi oleh ternak ruminansia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi jenis-jenis rumput dan komposisi kimia rumput alam di padang penggembalaan dan lahan pertanian Kecamatan Haharu Kabupaten Sumba Timur. Penelitian menggunakan metode survei dan pengamatan langsung di lapangan. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan pada 4 titik yakni Desa Wunga, Napu, Praibakul, dan Rambangaru. Sampel rumput alam yang diperoleh diidentifikasi menggunakan referensi buku indentifikasi rumput alam. Pengujian komposisi kimia dengan analisis proksimat. Hasil penelitian identifikasi rumput alam lokal sebagai berikut: mbelar penji (Heteropogon insignis), moru kapuka (Sorghum nitidum), wolu kamemu (Brachiaria decumbes), mapu bokul (Themeda triandara), mapu baokul kangadu (Hetropogon contortus), kahanga keri (Ischaemun timorense), bara minah (Brachiaria humidcola), kandaung hondu karambo (Cynodon dacylon), Kandaung hira panggu (Cynodon dactylon (L) Pers.), kandaung mmbata kambaku (Digitaria ciliaris), uhu randu (Echinochloa cruss-galli), ndaica (Panicum maximum), ilah (Saccharum spontaneum). Kesimpulan, rumput alam di Kecamatan Haharu terdapat 12 spesies, rumput alam uhu randu, kandaung mbata kambaku, kandaung hondu karambo memiliki komposisi kimia yang lebih baik dibanding rumput alam yang lainnya.Kata kunci: hijauan, padang penggembalaan, lahan pertanian Green Fodder Identification on Agriculture Land and Pasture of Haharu Sub District in East Sumba RegencyABSTRACTPasture condition needs to be managed and recorded because as the main feed source for livestock shepherd on the island of Sumba. Natural grass in the grazing fields and agricultural land of Haharu District, East Sumba Regency has various types and is the main feed consumed by ruminants. This study’s purpose to explore the types of grass and the chemical composition of natural grass in the pasture and agricultural land in the Haharu District of East Sumba. The research used survey methods and direct field observations. Sampling was conducted at 4 points i.e Wunga, Napu, Praibakul, and Rambangaru villages. The natural grass samples obtain were identified using a natural grass identification book reference. The research results identified local natural grasses as follows; mbelar penji (Heteropogon insignis), moru kapuka (Sorghum nitidum), wolu kamemu (Brachiaria decumbes), mapu bokul (Themeda triandara), mapu baokul kangadu (Hetropogon contortus), kahanga keri (Ischaemun timorense), bara minah (Brachiaria brizantha), kandaung hondu karambo (Cynodon dacylon), kandaung hira panggu (Cynodon dactylon (L) Pers.), kandaung mmbata kambaku (Digitaria ciliaris), uhu randu, dan ndaica. In conclusion, the grassland in District Haharu there were 12 species, uhu randu, kandaung mbata kambaku, kandaung hondu karambo grassland have better chemical composition than the other grassland.Keywords: forage, pasture, agricultural land
