- Facial index is the relation to the length of the face and the width of the face. Facial index can be influence by factor like race and gender. The aim of this research was to compare the facial index between Malaysian’s Malay, Chinese and Indian students of Padjadjaran University. The type of research was survey with descriptive analysis comparative approach with cross sectional method. The sampling method used was stratified random sampling of the Malaysian Malay, Chinese and Indian students in Padjadjaran University. A total of eighty nine students of Padjadjaran University compromising of thirty male and fifty nine female were chosen. The length and width of the face was measured using sliding calipers and spreading calipers. The facial index is then calculated. Data was then analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis test, Mann-Whitney U test and independent t test. From the result, the mean facial index for Malay is 97.310; Chinese is 94.691 and Indian is 112.300 and with using statistical study, it shows that there is a significant difference between Malaysian Malay and Indian students and between Chinese and Indian students. The result did not show significant difference between Malaysian Malay and Chinese students. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a difference in facial index between Malaysian’s Malay, Chinese and Indian students of Padjadjaran University.
