  • Radicular cyst is the most common inflammatory odontogenic cystic lesions. Radiographically, they appear as round or ovoid radioluscent areas surrounded by a narrow radiopaque margin. The main purpose of this research is to get the prevalence of radicular cyst based on panoramic radiograph in relation with age, gender and site distribution. The research method used in this research was descriptive method with purposive sampling technique. There were 69 radicular cyst presented on panoramic radiograph taken from Radiology Department in RSGM UNPAD starting from January of 2012 until March 2013. Data were collected, analyzed and described in few tables. The results of this study shows that the prevalence of radicular cyst in relation with adult age group was 49%, then the elderly group with 29% and then the adolescent group with 22%. As for the prevalence of radicular cyst in relation with gender, female comprised 70% and the male 30%. Moving on to the last category, the prevalence of radicular cyst in relation with site was mandibular posterior with 57%, followed by maxillary posterior with 22%, then maxillary anterior with 19% and then by mandibular anterior with 2%. In conclusion, the highest prevalence of radicular cyst in relation with age was the adult group. As for gender, the female has the highest prevalence of radicular cyst. Last but not least, the highest prevalence of radicular cyst in relation with site distribution was the mandibular posterior.
