- King Lear is a tragic drama written by William Shakespeare. This play is full off problems which produce meaning. This drama does not only contain cruelty, envy, slenderness and obscenity but also faithfulness, love, sacrifice and sublimity spirit. The problems of meaning in this play can be understood by analyzing them through Derrida's deconstruction. Logocentrism, fonocentrism, binary- opposition, and trace can be found in deconstruction. The source of the play was taken from HoUnshed that told the life of King Lear, the son of Baldui who governed in Britain in 1305. King Lear is expected to be the protector of his people, but actually two his daughters insulted him by sending out of the kingdom. Cordelia and Earl of Kent helped King Lear although he hated them.
