The effect of numbered head together technique on students’ writing of descriptive text at grade X in MAS Baharuddin

  • This research focuses on the effect of numbered head together technique on students‟ writing of descriptive text at grade X MAS Baharuddin. The students‟ problems in writing are: 1) the students are lack of vocabulary, 2) the students are lack of understanding grammar, 3) they are difficult to generate and ideas The purpose of this research is to examine whether there is significant effect of numbered head together technique on students‟ writing of descriptive text at grade X MAS Baharuddin or not. The formulation of this research are 1) how is the students‟ writing of descriptive text before using numbered head together technique at grade X MAS Baharuddin, 2) how is the students‟ writing of descriptive text after using numbered head together technique at grade X MAS Baharuddin, 3) is there any significant effect of using numbered head together technique on students‟ writing of descriptive text at grade X MAS Baharuddin. This research used two group pre-test and post-test design. The instrument of this research was writing test (pre-test and post test). The population of this research were 28 X grade students of MAS Baharuddin. The sample were class X�IPA (14 students) as experimental class and class X-AGAMA (14 students) as control class. The data of this research were collected by using t-test formula. The result showed that the mean score of experimental class after using Numbered Head Together Technique was higher than control class. The Mean score of experimental class in pre-test was 65,9 and the mean score of control class in pre-test was 68,44. Meanwhile, the mean score of experimental class in post-test after using Numbered Head Together Technique was 87,5 and the mean score of control class in post-test without a treatment was 72,35. Moreover, from t-test, it was found that tcount (6,108) was higher than ttable (1,7056). Therefore, the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) of this research was accepted and the Null Hyphotesis (H0) was rejected. It could be concluded that there was the effect of Numbered Head Together on students‟ writing of descriptive at grade X MAS Baharuddin.
