- This thesis tries to look at the history of the establishment of the al-Maarif al-Wataniah madrasa institution based on historical and sociological approaches. In this case the institutions referred to are buildings (physical) and institutions (non-physical). The purpose of this study was to determine the development of Madrasah al-Maarif al-Wataniah in 1929-1935 (historical), as well as to know the education system of Madrasah al-Maarif al-Wataniah (sociological). Research methodology. This research uses historical and sociological approaches. To get authentic data, the author uses the Library Research type. As for the types and sources of data, primary data is taken directly from research by researchers, and secondary data is data obtained indirectly from the object of research. In this study the authors used documentation data collection techniques using content analysis and historical methods. The results of the research can be presented in two parts. The first part (chapter iv), is a chronology of the historical results of the development and development of the al-Maarif al-Wataniah madrasa in Patani (1929-1935), where its historical development shows the efforts of the al-Maarif al-Wataniah madrasa to face endless assimilation in the Thai (Buddhist) education system. ). In the second part (chapter v) as the social background of the madrasa: first, the development of madrasa al-Maarif al-Wataniah against the background (internal factors) of the influence of the dissatisfaction of the national education system aimed at the politics of Siamization, as well as (external factors) in the world. Islam is included in the field of education brought by Haji Sulong to improve the condition of society - read: stagnation and antiquity - through the field of education. Second, the author provides an overview of the madrasah system based on historical traces by including several important components, such as: 1) Objectives 2) Educators 3) Students 4) Curriculum 5) Infrastructure. Third, is the influence and relevance of madrasas in the future that will also color the development pattern and the Islamic education institutional system, in Patani even today.
