- The aims of research are to know the sixth semester students’ affixation mastery at Tadris Bahasa Inggris STAIN Padangsidimpuan , to know the sixth semester students’ problems affixation mastery at Tadris Bahasa Inggris STAIN Padangsidimpuan and to know the English morphology lecturer effort in overcoming students’ problems in affixation. The research was conducted with qualitative approach. The samples of research are 33 students from 90 students research. Informants of research for interview are 4 students. There are 3 instruments in collecting data: affixation test, interview, and observation. Data was processed and analyzed with qualitative process. Based on the result of research, researcher found that the sixth semester students’ affixation mastery at Tadris Bahasa Inggris STAIN Padangsidimpuan in mastering affixation is enough (49,69%) and those are the problems of sixth semester students’ at Tadris Bahasa Inggris STAIN Padangsidmpuan in mastering affixation both prefixes and suffixes: the students’ problem in identify the combination of prefix and suffix in a word did not change, students’ had poor vocabularies, To overcoming the students’ problems in affixation, the English morphology lecturer is involve the students’ in studying the material repeat and give more example about affixation. they have to study about affixation with their group, English morphology lecturer effort to explained about edition and combination the word in prefixes and suffixes, they have to memorize the vocabularies is while it combines with the affixation they can identify it, they have to know about prefixes and suffixes.
