- T}ie analysis of tt{e students' ability in using elliptical sentences at MTs NU.Batahan The aims of the research are to know the students' ability in using elliptical sentences, the diffrculties that faced by students in using elliptical sentences and the efforts done by the English teachers to overcorning the students' difficulties in using elliptical sentences at Grade VIII MTs.NU.Batahan The sources cf data are the grade VIIIA of students, the English teac,her,s and F{ead Master of MTs.NU Batahan. The kind of this research is qualitative research by using descriptive method. The instr,uments of collecting data are observation, interview and test. The analysis by using Mean Score and describe their ability based on their resuit. The fonnula of Mean Score as below: 1E: 0x) N After the research was done, it can be known that the sfudents' abilit-v in using eliiptical sentences at Grade VIII MTs.NU.Batahan can be categorized into enough category {52.96%).The students' difficulties in leaming elliptical sentences are the students confuse the position of too, so, either and neither. And forget using helping verb negative in negative sentences. Had pocr vocabularies and they forget about the patterns of elliptical sentences? The effo*s done by the English teachers to overcoming the students' difficulties are the English teacher often repeats the lesson and give more examples.
