- This research discussed about the effect of P2R (Preview, Read, Review) strategy on Students’ Reading Comprehension at Grade VIII MTs N 2 Padangsidimpuan. The problems of this research were the students still got low grade with average 68; meanwhile the standard of English competency in this school was 80, students did not know the strategies, stress and tired in reading comprehension and students were lack of vocabulary and motivation in reading. The aims of this research were to describe and to examine the effect of P2R (Preview, Read, Review) strategy on Students’ Reading Comprehension at Grade VIII MTs N 2 Padangsidimpuan. This research employed experimental research. The population of this research was the eight grade of MTs Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan. The total of population were 4 classes. Then, the sample of the research was 2 classes, experiment class (VIII-1) and control class (VIII-2). It was taken randomly after conducting normality and homogeneity test. To collect the data, researcher used test for measuring students’ Reading Comprehension achievement. To analysis the data, the researcher used t-test. Based on the result of the research, researcher showed the description of the data was found that the result of experimental class was higher than control class (81.35>77.65), and the score of tcount was bigger than ttable (4.11> 1.67). It means that the hypothesis alternative (Ha) was accepted. It was concluded that there was the significant effect of P2R (Preview, Read, Review) strategy on Students’ Reading Comprehension at Grade VIII MTs N 2 Padangsidimpuan.
