- This research is taken based on fact of students’ ability in speaking at grade X in MAS Al-Khoir Mananti PadangLawas. The researcher found that the ability of students such as lack of using English when speak in public speaking activity and communicating in classroom and also poor in vocabulary. The aims of this research were to analyzed the students abiility in speaking, to find the students difficulties in speaking, to find the efforts of teachers’ to overcome students’ difficulties in speaking at grade X in MAS Al-Khoir Mananti PadangLawas. This research used qualitative approach. The instruments of data collected were test, observation, interview. The method research was descriptive and qualitative approach. Descriptive research involves collecting data in order to answer questions about the opinions of people about some topic or issue and descriptive research also called survey research. The source of the data was purposive sampling, there were 19 students at grade X in MAS Al-Khoir Mananti PadangLawas. Data processed and analyzed with qualitative process. After getting the result of the research, it can be concluded that students’ ability in speaking at grade X in MAS Al-Khoir Mananti PadangLawas was 39,73 % from their test. It means the students’ ability in speaking were low categorize. From their interviewed the researcher found all of them poor in vocabulary and the teacher of English just give the matery seldom to practice. So, media and facilities like library and books, language laboratory was well but could not improved their speaking because they rarely used it
