  • This research has taken based on fact has using strategies in teaching English. The researcher identified many strategies, as seen that there are many teachers who did not know how to teach English. In this research, the researcher wanted to find out about the teachers’ strategies in teaching English, the teachers’ problems in teaching English and teachers’ strategies to solve the problems in teaching English at MTs YPKS Padangsidimpuan. The research has conducted by qualitative approach and descriptive method. The sources of the data for this research were English teacher and students. As the instrument for collecting the data the researcher used obsrvation, interview and video recorded. The researcher analyzed the data: Managing, Reading, Describing, Representing, Classifying, Interpreting data by identifying and abstracting important understanding from the detail and complexity of the data. In this occasion, teachers’ strategies in teaching English at MTs YPKS Padangsidimpuan were: using book, dictionary, note and role playing activities. Teachers’ problems in teaching English at MTs YPKS Padangsidimpuan were: the students not interested to study English, the students is low spirit in learning, the students mastery of English vocabulary is still poor, the students made a noise in the classroom, there was no teaching media and the low motivation of parents to students. Teachers’ strategies tosolve the problems in teaching English at MTs YPKS Padangsidimpuan were: the teachers gave motivation and suggestion to students, especially for English, the teacher gave waning or advice to students, the teacher move the place of students’ sit, the teacher asking to headmater to add the facilities in learning and the teacher order them to enrich vocabulay.
