  • The research discussed about students’ error in writing recount text. The objectives of this research are to describe the errors of students, to find the dominant error and to describe the causes of the dominant error of students MAS Daarul Muhsinin Janjimanahan Kawat Labuhan Batu at grade XI in writing recount text. This research was conducted through qualitative research. Sources of the data in this research were students from MAS Daarul Muhsinin Janjimanahan Kawat Labuhan Batu at grade XI. There were twenty students as the sample of the research. The instrument of this research was writing test. It used to identify the students’ error, sign the students’ error, classify the students’ error, count the students error to get the dominant error, describe the result of the research and make the conclusion. Based on the research result, it showed that the students committed error into four types: omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. From the frequency of each error types, misformation was the error which most frequently produced by the students. It took 53.78% of the total errors. Moreover, 26.69% errors fell into omission and 11.15% errors fell into addition, whereas, for misordering, it only took 8.36%.
