- This research discussed about Students ability in Mastering Verbs at Grade XI SMA Negeri 1 Batang Angkola Tapanuli Selatan. The students’ problem in this research some of students’ can not distinguish between regular verbs, irregular verbs, transitive verbs and intransitive verbs. The methods of study is quantitative. The subject of study researcher choose XI MIA-2 one class (2018/2019) in SMA Negeri 1 Batang Angkola Tapanuli Selatan. The result that the researcher found four type of verbs: Regular Verbs, Irregular Verbs, Transitive Verbs and Intransitive Verbs. The researcher result found that 20 items every items will be score 5, from the variable relevant in ability mastering verbs shows that the respondent at 50-59 were 1 students (2,94%), interval 60-69 were 12 students (35,29%), interval 70-79 were 15 students (44,70%), interval 80-89 were 5 students (14,70%), and interval 90-99 were 1 students (2,94%), so the meaning of interval in this research is showing the count of sample who got score in percentage. Then the researcher found the highest score was 95 made by one students with percentages 2,94%. This problem influenced by students’ felt confused to understand, because they did not know meaning and differences between regular verbs, irregular vers, transitive verbs and intransitive verbs
