- This research concerned about the comparative study of Reading Comprehensionby using QAR strategyand PQRS strategyat Grade VIII of MTs N 1 Sipirok. The problems of this research were most of students have low achievement in reading comprehension,students do not have many vocabularies, students are low to answer the question about the text; they do not understand about main idea, supporting idea, and conclusion, students do not have good strategies in reading or they do not know reading strategies well.The purpose of this research was to find out the difference betweenQAR strategy and PQRS strategyon students’ reading comprehensionat grade VIII MTs N 1 Sipirok. This research employed experimental research. The population of this research was the eighth at grade VIII MTs N 1 Sipirok. The total of population is3 classes. Then, the sample of the research was 2 classes, experiment class 1 (VIII-1) experiment class 2 (VIII-2). It was taken randomly after conducting normality and homogeneity test. To collect the data, researcher used test for measuring students’ ability in writing descriptive text. To analyze the data, the researcher used t-test. Based on the result of the research, researcher shown the description of the data was found that the result of experimental class was higher than control class (75.40>64.50), and the score of tcountwas bigger than ttable(20.18> 1.997). It meant that the hypothesis alternative (Ha) was accepted. It was concluded that there was thedifference between students’ reading comprehensionby using QAR strategyandPQRS strategyat Grade VIII MTs N 1 Sipirok.
