  • This research aimed to know the effectiveness of Title, Examine, Look,Look and Setting (TELLS) in teaching reading comprehension to the tenth grade students of SMAN 01 Marau. This research used pre-experimental study. It was conducted in third week of September to the early October 2018 at SMAN 01 Marau and this experimental it involved twenty two students from X IIS 3. This experimental research applied once of treatmets of using TELLS strategy. The instrument that is used in this research is reading test . The result finding was the null hypothesis was rejected. It showed by the score before treatments was diffrent from score after treatments. It means that TELLS strategy was effective in teaching students’ reading comprehension. In addition, TELLS strategy give students moderate effect in learning descriptive text it proved by the result of the analysist of effect size. The research findings showed that Title, Examine, Look,Look and Setting (TELLS) strategy was significanly effective in teaching srtudents’ reading comprehension to the teth grade students of SMAN 01Marau in the academic year of 2018/2019 an the treatment was gave the moderate effect to the students in learning reading comprehension. TELLS strategy can be implemented as one of the strategy in teaching reading comprehsnion.
