- Damar Kurung is a lantern originated in Gresik, East Java, Indonesia, which is decorated with paintings on all four sides. The painting on Damar Kurung is depicted in 2 dimensions, but the painting also has a meaning of depth of space. Therefore the right media is needed to explain the concept of space in learning the Damar Kurung visual language for school-aged child as an effort to preserve the national cultural heritage from an early age. This research uses the paper engineering brief and also applies the design method which consists of 4 stages: discovery, planning, creative, and application. The results of this research are pop-up modules and tutorial videos which have been tested on elementary school students in the arts and crafts subjects. In order to support the distance learning process during this pandemic, tutorial videos are uploaded on YouTube channels and pop-up modules on Google Drive for free of access.
