- The coconut shell waste has the potential for making fuel in the shape of briquette. Biomass briquette generally uses adhesive from tapioca. Therefore, tapioca is one of the food ingredients. Hibiscus leave has the potential to be made as adhesive for coconut shell briquette as a substitute for tapioca adhesive. This research has the intention for making briquette from coconut shells using the adhesive made from hibiscus leaf, and to know the characteristics of briquette that will have been made. Briquette is made with hibiscus leave adhesive with the percentages of 20%, 25%, and 30%. All of the briquettes made have the characteristics corresponded with Indonesian Standard for the briquette quality. Whereas the composition of the briquette which has the best composition is the briquette with hibiscus leave adhesive amount 30%, with water amount 1,73%, ash amount 3,30%, calorie amount 6572 cal/g, density amount 0,70 g/cm2 and pressure power test 0,83 kg/cm3.
