- Speaking is one of language skills developed in childrens life. However, to be able to speak formally effectively requires some intensive practise. An effective communication is essential for any either individu or group to be succesful in life. Students having good speaking skill will be easily understood by their speaking partners. In speaking learning particularly at elementary many students are shy and unfortunately, less motivated to speak in front of the class for some reasons. Therefore, students elementary an teachers should apply an appropriate method in order to improve speaking learning in the classroom. One of methods which can be chosen is Telling a story. Through Telling a story, students express their interest, opinion , expectation, experience, and their environtment. Besides, it will make learning fun and pleaning and make the students confident to speak in front of the class. Key Words: speaking, telling a story
