Sulawesi Selatan. Bahasa Tae’ sebagai identitas orang Luwu dalam hal ini kota
Palopo telah jarang digunakan sebagai bahasa komunikasi sehari-hari masyarakat
Palopo. Penggunaan bahasa di lingkungan keluarga sebagai ranah paling dekat
penggunaan bahasa daerah juga sudah tergantikan penggunaannya.
Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif
kualitatif. Di mana peneliti terjun langsung kelapangan untuk mengambil data
dengan menggunakan instrumen seperti kuesioner, wawancara, dan observasi.
Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, peneliti menemukan bahwa bahasa Tae’
sebagai bahasa daerah masyarakat kota Palopo atau Luwu telah mengalami
pergeseran. Masyarakat kota Palopo bersikap positif terhadap bahasa Tae’, namun
penggunaan bahasa Tae’ sangat rendah bahkan di ranah keluarga. Hal ini juga
mempengaruhi vitalitas bahasa Tae’ yang masuk dalam kategori rentan akan
kepunahan. Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa sikap bahasa yang
positif tidak sejalan dengan dengan penggunaan bahasa yang positif juga.
Penggunaan bahasa yang rendah berpengaruh pada transmisi bahasa yang rendah
pula sehingga menyebabkan vitalitas bahasa Tae’ yang masuk dalam kategori
rentan akan kepunahan.;--This study discusses language shift of Tae’ through cases study of language
attitude, language use, and vitality of Tae' language in Palopo city of South
Sulawesi. Tae' language as the identity of Luwu people, in this case Palopo city
has been rarely used as a language of daily communication of Palopo society. The
use of language in the family environment as the closest domain to the use of
heritage languages has also been replaced.
The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative method. Where
researchers go to directly to the research setting to retrieve the data by using
instruments such as questionnaires, interviews, and observations.
Based on the results of data analysis, the researcher found that Tae' language
as the local language of the people of Palopo city or Luwu has experienced the
shift. The people of Palopo have a positive attitude towards Tae', but the use of
Tae' is very low even in the realm of the family. It also affects the vitality of Tae'
languages that fall into the category of vulnerability to extinction. Based on the
result of this research that the language attitude has no effect on the use of their
language. It also affects the vitality of Tae' languages that fall into the category of
