  • This research aims to find out how the teacher teaches descriptive text in vocational high school. This research uses case study research design and the subject of this research is a teacher of English in a vocational high school in Bandung. This research employs qualitative method and intrinsic type of case study research design. The data are collected by conducting a classroom observation and an interview. The result showed that the teacher followed and fulfilled the instruction of standard process of teaching based on Curriculum 2013 and also mixed-up the teaching strategy between top-down and bottom-up strategies. Moreover, the materials used still have to be adapted to the students’ needs and students’ background as the students of drawing building technique of vocational high school.
