- This paper is entitled “Analysis of Verbal and Visual Interpersonal Meanings in Children Picture Books entitled Waldo and the Desert Island Adventure (1986), Let’s be Friend Again (1988) and Never Lonely Again (1988) by Hans Wilhelm”. To analyze verbal Interpersonal Meanings, this study uses MOOD system proposed by Halliday and Matthiessen (2004). Meanwhile, to analyze visual Interpersonal Meanings, this study uses visual grammar proposed by Kress and van Leeuwen (2006). Regarding verbal interpersonal meanings, this study finds that the three children picture books mostly offer the information about what is happening in the story rather than demanding the readers to get involved into the story. Regarding visual Interpersonal Meanings, this study finds that the three children picture books mostly offer the information about what is happening in the story rather than demanding the readers to get involved into the story. Furthermore, they provide a public distance between the represented participants and the interactive participants, which is the distance among people who are remains stranger. The represented participants and the interactive participants are equal in terms of power.
