UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI EKSTRAK KULIT BUAH MANGGIS (Garcinia mangostana Linn)

- Mangos teen peel had been used as traditional medicine to treat dysentery, diarrhea,and uric acid.. This study was done to determine chemical compounds of mangos teen peel extract and its antibacterial activity by diffusion paper disk method. Its chemical compounds were determine by phytochemical screening while the antibacterial test was done against Gram Positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus A TCC 25922 and S. epidermidis), and Gram Negative bacteria (Salmonella typhimurium B 2284 and Eschericia coli B2245). Extract concentration used for the study were 50, 25, 12.5, 6.25 and 3.125%, in which every concentration had three replicates. Result ofphytochemical screening of mangos teen peel extract showed that the extract contained alkaloid, saponin, triterpenoid, tannin, phenol, flavonoid, glicoside and steroid. Mangos teen peel extract at the concentration up to 3.125 % had growth inhibition area on Gram Positive bacteria (Staph, aureus and Staph, epidermidis, and there were no growth inhibition area on Gram Negative bacteria (S.typhimurium and E.coli) . Increasing extract concentration resulted in increasing growth inhibition area. Keywords : mangos teen (Garcinia mangostana), Staphylococcus aureus, S, epidermidis.
