  • The transmission of malaria was found to occur all year round with the highest peak in August 1998 (SPR= 4.9%), but then declined drastically in May (SPR=2.46%) and July 1999 (SPR=2.4%). From examination using PCD, ACD, dan MBS methods for 20 months, the SPR stratification/level of each village was obtained. Villages with high SPR included Cijulang (31.2%), Cikondang (27.7%), Rajadatu (23.3%) dan Ciampanan (22.7%). The result of the research on population dynamics showed that An. barbirostris population is dominant over that of other Anopheles in Cineam sub-district. The occurrence of human bitting of An. barbirostris was the highest in October with a MBR index of 6.75. There is no significant difference between biting occurrence inside dan outside the house (P< 0.05). The population density of An. barbirostris was found throughout the year, except in September, with the highest peak found in October 1998 (180). Apparently, as malaria prevalence decreased, the population of An. barbirostris increased. There is significant correlation between those two variables, with regression equation Y= 0.0032 X + 1.46, R = 0.19, p>0.05.
