- Abstract: This research was titled, "The Association of Load Meanings in the Field of Building Structure, Civil Engineering: Semantic Studies". The research aims to classify various compound words that are formed from the word "load" in the field of building structures, civil engineering, in particular, the loading. This research method uses descriptive qualitative method. The research technique in this study uses the recording/note taking technique. Research data samples consist of a list of compound terms "load" that contained in Indonesian National Standard of building structures. The theory used in this research is semantic studies regarding changes/shifts in meaning. The results showed that the term "load" used in the field of civil engineering is in the form of compound words that contain associations of meanings. The association is human image and natural image.
